Summer is Sweet Tea, Peaches and a Bit of Rum

Summer is here and having lived in the South now for over 20 years, I’ve learned the importance of sweet tea. It’s a staple and helps cool you down on hot, humid, summer days. I did say humid, right?

Combining this southern staple with one of the best summer fruits of the season is bliss.

Add some dark rum and you’ve got an adult beverage to help keep you cool on the hottest of summer days.

Of course, you can forego the rum and just make a great peach sweet tea too.

Enjoy!

Peach Sweet Tea with Rum

Boil two quarts of water.

Add your favorite tea bags to brew. (Follow their directions for the number of tea bags to use.)

Let the tea cool for about five minutes.

Cut 2-3 small ripe peaches and add to tea.

Add 1/2 cup sugar (I use a stevia/sugar blend and you can always sweeten to taste)

Add 1/2 cup of dark rum

Serve over ice and enjoy!

Have a great summer everyone!
